Edwards Lifesciences Donates $5000 to Enham Trust

Global leader in the science of heart valves and hemodynamic monitoring, Edwards Lifesciences, has recently donated $5000 to leading disability charity Enham Trust’s accessible bike initiative.

The initiative, identified as an opportunity in the latter part of 2015, sees the Trust working with their therapy partners Hobbs Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Services to get as many of their clients as possible keeping fit and increasing their strength and mobility by using accessible bikes, adapted to suit their individual needs.

Currently the Trust’s clients, together with Hobbs, have been invited by specialist companies providing accessible and adapted bikes – such as Quest88 and Alice Holt – to trial these bikes; giving them the opportunity to try out different adaptions to fit their needs, and learn how to ride if they’ve never done so.

This substantial gift, donated by Edwards Lifesciences, will go towards the purchase of an accessible bike by the Trust and Hobbs, which will be available for use by the Trust’s disabled clients 5 days a week.

We’re delighted to have donated to this great cause, comments Nick Walker, Country Manager UK & Ireland, of Edwards Lifesciences. We support Enham Trust in a variety of different ways, often volunteering for example. And to support in this way – ensuring the Trust’s clients can continue to increase their mobility, strength, and consequently improve their independence is amazing!

Speaking of what he’s enjoyed most about trailing the accessible bikes, Enham Trust client Matt remarked:

Doing exercise and getting fresh air!

Enham Trust supports over 7,500 disabled and disadvantaged people across the country in the cornerstone areas of their lives with housing, care, and employment and skills provisions, ensuring their clients can live as independently as possible; maintaining mobility, building up strength, and growing in confidence being some of the fundamental foundations of this work.
