Easter

Easter holiday excitement at The Lights

The Lights is the hub for creativity in Andover and surrounding areas, and this Easter will be no different as the venue stages a range of children’s holiday workshops.

Children aged from 2 to 11 years old can get creative on one of several workshops featuring dancing, crafts, music and movement and story-telling this Easter.

On 30 March come along and make beautiful glass coasters inspired by the colours of spring to display on a table or in the window. Suitable for ages 7-11 years, coasters will be fired in the tutor’s studio for collection a week later from The Lights. On the same day little ones from 2-4 years can take part in the Ugly Bug Ball movement workshop (must be accompanied by an adult. Older siblings are welcome too). Fancy dress is a must for this 45 minute workshop!

Thursday, 31 March sees a world of junk modelling take over the venue. Children between 5 and 7 years can create junk models and then use them to create a story to perform to friends and family at the end of the session. This workshop will include drama games to ignite imaginations.

The first week of April is all about dance and movement. On Monday, 4 April at 1pm tutor Lauren will be teaching routines to all the favourite party tracks in Don’t Stop the Party. Suitable for 7-11 year olds. Then on Thursday, 7 April at 1pm Lauren will be running a fantastic ocean-themed pop dance workshop for 5-7 year olds in Dance the Waves.

For the little ones from 2-5 years a magical storytelling workshop takes place on Tuesday, 5 April at 9.30am. There is a wolf in the woods and the three little pigs need to come up with a plan to keep them safe. A fantastic storytelling workshop involving lots of music and movement and lots of fun trying to outwit the wolf!
If you haven’t visited before you’ll find that The Lights is a child friendly facility with easy access, plenty of space in the Arena Café Bar plus full baby changing facilities. The purpose built venue features a spacious craft studio perfect for little ones to make lots of creative mess as well as a fabulous mirrored dance studio for all those dancing divas!
Or for something a little different why not treat the whole family to a matinee performance of Pinocchio from Ballet Theatre UK on Saturday, 2 April at 2.30pm. Set to a stunning classical score and with beautiful costumes, this original production will delight young and old alike and promises to carve a new love for Pinocchio through the magic of classical dance.
