TODAY marks the launch of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s twelfth annual Director of Nursing Awards.
The awards, affectionately known as the DONAs, celebrate the outstanding dedication, care and compassion shown by Hampshire Hospitals’ ward and community staff.
They give patients and their relatives the opportunity to show how much they appreciate the exceptional nurses, midwives and therapy staff working for Hampshire Hospitals by nominating them for a special award.
Staff who are eligible for the awards deliver care at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital, as well as Alton and Bordon community hospitals, other community locations, or in patients’ own home.
Donna Green, chief nurse at Hampshire Hospitals, announced:
We really want to hear from patients or visitors who feel that individuals or teams working for our trust have provided them with exceptional care.
Patients and visitors can choose to nominate either an individual nurse, midwife or therapist, or a team of nurses, midwives or therapists.
The winners will be announced during a glittering ceremony next summer, with a range of awards up for grabs, including some chosen by our local Rotary groups and the Chief Medical Officer’s award, which is sponsored by HHFT’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Andrew Bishop.
Donna added:
These awards are held specifically to thank our nursing, midwifery and therapy staff, who work tirelessly to care for our patients. This annual event is an opportunity to celebrate our staff for going beyond the call of duty.
You can submit your nominations until the end of April by visiting the Hampshire Hospitals website and completing the nomination form. Forms are also available around the hospitals or by contacting Karen O’Hanlon on 01256 313435 or dona@hhft.nhs.uk
