Crowds gather for the official launch of the Test Valley Business Awards 2018

The 14th Test Valley Business Awards is now open for entries & nominations…

Following a sold-out event, seeing over 80 local business representatives gather at The Greyhound on the Test, Stockbridge, to celebrate the official launch of the Test Valley Business Awards for 2018, entries & nominations are now open.

Held on 16th March, the launch event saw sponsors, press, local councillors, and local business representatives eager to enter this year’s Awards, gather together to network, enjoy a light lunch with wine courtesy of Danebury Vineyards, and learn more about the Awards process for 2018.

With key speeches from The Worshipful the Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr. Carl Borg-Neal, Ross McNally of the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, and Guest Speaker Charles Jardine, as well as an uplifting speech from 2016 award winner Liz Neilson of Fluidity Insurance, the 14th Test Valley Business Awards was kick-started in style!

This year, there are no fewer than 6 awards categories to choose from, sponsored by some of the areas most accomplished and well-established businesses.

The Test Valley Business Awards 2018 awards categories and Gold Sponsors are:

  • Innovation & Technology Award – The University of Southampton Science Park
  • New Business of the Year Award – Test Valley Borough Council
  • Doing Business Locally Award – Taylored IT
  • Small Business of the Year Award – Wilkins Kennedy
  • Employer of the Year Award – Simplyhealth
  • Businesswoman of the Year Award

Liz Neilson of Fluidity Insurance, 2016 winner of The Brenda Locke Award for Women in Business said of the Test Valley Business Awards:

As a past winner of an award, I would urge all businesses thinking about entering to do so.  You have nothing to lose and so much to gain; being a winner gives prospective clients and customers a sense of comfort to know that the person they are dealing with has been recognised for their business achievements and acumen.

I would say ‘good luck’ but at the end of the day so little in business is about luck!  Hard work, focus and motivation are the key ingredients and the 2018 TVBA will be awarding local leaders later in the year to acknowledge those that have shown they are deserving.

I’m very glad this year to be involved on a different level.  Now the nomination process is open – go for it!!

To enter, businesses are asked to visit: www.tvbawards.org.uk/enternominate/ by 11th May, and fill in the simple online form with 200 – 250 words about your business against the relevant category judging criteria, which can also be found on the Awards’ website.

During the entry & nomination period, several entrants will be selected at random to receive a fabulous entry prize; including wine, champagne, and other sought-after local goodies.

The Awards is free to enter; taking just minutes to fill in the online form which, if successfully chosen as a winner, could lead to a full 12 months of business promotion across the Test Valley.

Businesses are encouraged to enter as many categories as possible before the entry & nomination period ends at midnight on 11th May.

Now in its 14th year, the Test Valley Business Awards – run by a steering group of volunteers – has become a well-established platform to promote businesses excellence and especially to shine a light on the many new and small innovative businesses operating out of sight. It is a great way to enable smaller enterprises to gain the recognition and exposure to grow.
