Clean for the Queen

‘Clean for the Queen’ at Hampshire country parks

Country parks and Andover town centre will receive a spring clean in the coming days, as Hampshire County Council’s countryside staff, the Authority’s highways contractor Amey and volunteers begin preparations for Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Bin bags, gloves and litter pickers are at the ready for the work as part of the national ‘Clean for the Queen‘ campaign ahead of Her Majesty’s official birthday celebrations in June.

The County Council’s Executive Member for Culture, Recreation and Countryside, Councillor Andrew Gibson, said:

Our staff and volunteers continually work hard to keep our country parks and countryside as free from litter as possible, as we take great pride in Hampshire’s beautiful countryside. ‘Clean for the Queen’ is a great way to give the county that extra-special spring clean in time for the Queen’s 90th birthday. Everyone has a responsibility to keep their local community tidy, and this campaign provides a fantastic opportunity for everyone to join in, protect our countryside and improve the quality of our public spaces.
