Cllr Goff Beck, New Forest District Council’s Chairman, abseiled the Emirates Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth on Sunday (12 June, 3pm) in support of his two charities (New Forest Disability Information Service and First Opportunities) .
Not even a month into his Chairmanship and Cllr Beck is already well on his way to raising his first £1,000 for his charities.
When asked how he was feeling about the abseil beforehand, Cllr Beck said:
I am hoping my experiences of abseiling whilst serving in the Royal Marines will hold me in good stead, but it is still a challenge.
I welcome the opportunity to support these two charities and the support I’ve already had from generous organisations and people is terrific
And when he was safely back on solid ground, that was an exhilarating experience! I thoroughly enjoyed it.
