Test Valley Borough Council has awarded new business owner, David Lamb, a £500 Business Incentive Grant to reward his hard work setting up Olympus Customs in Andover.
David’s passion for restoring and selling Land Rovers has been a hobby spanning more than a decade. In August 2015, he decided it was time to turn his interest into a career and he left his long term job as an IT manager to focus on his new venture.
Olympus Customs, based at West Portway, purchases second hand Land Rover vehicles, refurbishes them and sells them on. David uses local suppliers where possible to access parts and to make use of nearby paintwork specialists.
David said:
I’ve been interested in Land Rovers for many years so I’m really pleased that I’ve found a way to turn my passion into a career. Setting up my own business has been hard work, but very rewarding. My new working arrangements also mean that I have more flexibility to spend time with my young daughter.
Harroway ward members, Councillor Carl Borg-Neal and Councillor Brian Page, presented the £500 cheque to David at the new Olympus Customs unit.
Councillor Borg-Neal said:
I’d like to congratulate David for creating such a unique and interesting new business. The Council is committed to supporting local entrepreneurs and the Business Incentive Grant is one of the ways we can help. David has an exciting future ahead of him and I wish him the best of luck with his new venture.
