The residents of Lockerley, East Dean and surrounding villages came out in force on Sunday 22nd April for a bluebell walk and cream tea to raise funds for a playground in the area.
More than eighty people turned up to the event, a huge show of support which raised over £450 for the cause. The attendance of nearly thirty children also proved just how great the need is for a proper play space!
The Lockerley and East Dean Playground Committee would like to say a huge ‘Thank you!‘ to all those who attended and helped on the day, in particular Liz and Andy Holton who organised and hosted the event. The proceeds from this event have brought the total raised so far to £16,265, but we still have some way to go to raise the estimated £60,000 needed.
Our fundraising programme will continue with ‘Pocket Theatre Pick ‘n’ Mix – a selection of songs and sketches from Sullivan to Sondheim!‘ at Lockerley Village Hall on Saturday 30th June 2018 at 7.30pm.
Tickets for the concert cost £10 each and can be purchased in advance from: Lockerley Green Stores, Lockerley Green, Lockerley, SO51 0JN. Doors open at 7pm and drinks and snacks will be available to buy.
We will also be launching a monthly homemade cake sale at Lockerley Green Stores on Saturday 5th May – a team of local residents are working together to bake cakes for the first Saturday of each month, with all proceeds going towards the playground.
