A spectacular spring ball held in Portsmouth raised £13,000 for the Road Rose Association, which works with children who have multiple and complex disabilities.
The Southampton-based charity is active across Hampshire and has been doing vital work with over 400 local families for more than 60 years.
The spring ball was held at the Portsmouth Marriott hotel and nearly 200 guests attended.
Sponsored by local firms Wild Recruitment and TJ Waste & Recycling along with print partners Diguru, the event included a silent and a live auction of superb prizes donated for the occasion.
These included festival tickets, a Porsche for the day and a spa day at Carey’s Manor in the New Forest.
There were 20 guests who volunteered to attempt the Great South Run for the charity and John Gosling of TJ Waste & Recycling agreed to organise a training group.
After the fundraising, guests were entertained by live music from the band Kojak’s Revenge.
Chief Executive Heather Aspinall, who has run the charity for more than 20 years, said:
We felt the warmth and generosity of so many people all through the evening.
This wonderful atmosphere meant everyone had a truly great time and we are so grateful that our children and families will really benefit from this.
