Are you up for the MTT Jump Challenge?

Jumping around in a circle might seem like a straightforward thing to do but local charity, Minstead Training Trust, is setting a challenge to the community which is not quite so simple!

The Trust, which supports adults with learning disabilities to lead independent lives by providing practical training in life skills, work-based skills and health and well-being, is celebrating its 30th birthday. As part of their Pearl Appeal, they have created the MTT Jump Challenge.

Participants stand a circle and respond to instructions to jump left or right, forward or backward but what they say and do are different. This will usually result in much laughter and people going the wrong way! They are then encouraged to video their attempts to send to the Trust whilst donating £3.00 towards the Pearl Appeal.

Zak Khdir, Marketing and Fundraising Apprentice at Minstead Training Trust, tried it and didn’t find it easy;

You wouldn’t think that following simple instructions could be so complicated. I think everyone should get involved as it’s a fun thing to do and gives you a really good idea of what it’s like for people with learning disabilities.

CEO of Minstead Training Trust, Madeleine Durie, explains;

The MTT Jump Challenge highlights that everyone takes time to process information and respond – adults with learning disabilities often need additional help and support when trying to do what most of us take for granted. She continues: We hope that by as many groups of friends, family or co-workers as possible will join in the fun. We will be posting the videos on our social media sites to raise awareness of what we do and raise some much needed funds. We’ll be using the hashtag #mttjumpchallenge to spread the word even further on Twitter.
