Andover College backs National Apprenticeship Week

As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2016 Andover College is to host an Apprenticeship Information event on Wednesday 16th March, 4.30-7.30pm. Apprentices can earn and learn and are ideal for the ambitious looking to develop skills and progress with their career.

Suzanne Grant, Vice Principal Commercial said:

This event is aimed at those who think an apprenticeship could be for them but want to find out more or anyone who has heard about apprenticeships but are not sure what they are. Our Apprenticeship Liaison Officers will be able to answer all questions, explain what an apprenticeship is, what the benefits are, what’s involved and next steps, including how to find an employer.

The event is part of the ninth annual National Apprenticeship Week which takes place from 14-18 March 2016. The 2016 theme is ‘rise to the top’, focusing on progression and opportunity as a way to showcase the rich and diverse apprenticeship offer, from traineeships right through to higher and degree apprenticeships, all of which are available at the College.

The Week, which is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service, is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the economy and provides detailed information on the many opportunities available.

Suzanne Grant concludes:

The Government has set the ambitious target of 3 million new apprenticeships by 2020. There are huge benefits to the economy, employers and more importantly apprentices with 83% saying their career prospects had improved and on average, individuals with an advanced apprenticeship (equivalent to A Levels) earn between £77,000 and £117,000 more over their lifetime than similar individuals with Level 2 qualifications.
