Alamein Community Conference a success in bringing local organisations together

A variety of local organisations attended the second annual Alamein Community Conference on Saturday, 23 January 2016, to discuss how community groups in the area could work together for the benefit of residents.

Local ward member, Councillor Phil North chaired the conference, which was hosted at the Longmeadow Centre in Cricketers Way by community support organisation, RCS Ltd.  The conference provided a networking opportunity for representatives from organisations including Alamein Community Association, St Paul’s Church and Community Centre, Test Valley Community Services, Smannell Parish Council and Enham Trust.

The event was also a chance to explore how the various groups could better support one another and highlighted the funding opportunities available for local groups and organisations, including Test Valley Borough Council’s Councillor Community Grant scheme.

Councillor Phil North said;

The second Alamein Community Conference was a great success. It was good to come together with the various groups and organisations that all play a part in working hard to benefit the community and ideas for some exciting future projects were shaped and discussed. It was also highlighted that since the Councillor Community Grant scheme started in 2012, the Alamein ward Councillors have awarded more than £16,500 to groups and activities based within the Alamein ward, which is good news for local groups and residents.  I would like to thank everyone who attended and to all those who worked hard in making this event such a positive one.
