Test Valley Borough Council has awarded £25,000 to the Nether Wallop New Village Hall Trust to put towards a brand new facility for the community.
The existing village hall will be demolished and replaced with new amenities to better serve residents’ needs. The new venue will include a large hall, fully equipped kitchen and two accessible toilets. Photo voltaic solar panels will also be installed to help keep heating and lighting costs to a minimum.
Community and Leisure Portfolio Holder, Councillor Tony Ward said;
The Council is committed to developing stronger communities by helping them to identify what is needed and supporting them to deliver new projects and facilities. A brand new village hall in Nether Wallop will be an excellent addition to the parish and will be used by a number of different groups for a range of purposes.
Andover and District Mencap has also applied for a grant from the Council’s Community Asset Fund. The authority has awarded the full £2,000 requested to upgrade its computer suite.
Organisations can apply to the Community Asset Fund for a grant of up to £25,000. Applicants can submit bids for 50 per cent of the cost of a project that provides or enhances important community infrastructure.
