Ampfield Parish Council Councillor Community Grant for aerial photography

A picture is worth a thousand words for Ampfield Village

Ampfield Parish Council is reaching new heights with its Ampfield Village Design Statement (VDS), after being awarded a £463 Councillor Community Grant for aerial photography.

The Ampfield Village Design Statement Steering Group has been undertaking a revision of its VDS, to record the area’s distinctive local characteristics. It sets out design guidelines to help manage new development to ensure that the distinctive character of Ampfield Parish is retained.

Ampfield and Braishfield Ward Councillor, Martin Hatley, commented:

Test Valley Borough Council is pleased to support Ampfield Parish Council and its residents in their use of aerial photography. I have no doubt the images that have been taken will be an asset to the VDS team’s plans.

Graham Roads, chairman of the Ampfield VDS Steering Group, added:

For it to be sustainable, it is really important that any new development should complement and enhance the distinct characteristics of its local neighbourhood. Identifying these characteristics has been one of the challenges faced by the VDS Steering Group. The ability to use aerial photos, which can set the visual scene so effectively, has provided an invaluable contribution in this respect. The Ampfield VDS Steering Group is very grateful to Test Valley Borough Council for recognising and facilitating the benefits that up to date aerial photographs bring to the VDS and, consequently, in the longer term, to the parish as a whole.

Test Valley Borough Council’s Councillor Community Grant scheme helps to fund community-led initiatives. Local councillors allocate funds to projects that they identify as meeting a need in the community, based on feedback and ideas from residents. More information on Village Design Statements can be found on Test Valley Borough Council’s web page.
